Strangely enough, this image was created at about 4 am on 9/11 prior to the attacks later that morning. This was my strongest automatic drawing experience- I literally stooped over the page as an observer and watched my hand race across the page creating the imagery. I later inked over the original which was done in ballpoint pen. The image is a culmination of my concerns about both the internal state of the republic and its relationship to the rest of the world. I awoke the next morning with the image and the experience still on my mind, and as I drove late to work, I recall turning on the radio and hearing the reports of the collisions.
