The project began as a distraction in the same vain and immediately following the first of the non-objective digital works. While learning Adobe After Effects, I began making a desktop icon (above, right), which turned into a sort of compulsive manifestation of all of the things I've been most concerned with during my studies. The icon readily served as an obvious vehicle to create a wave movement while also learning After Effects, and became the root of an enormous self-similar pattern with many levels of variation and overlapping transparency, and suggestive of a growth sequence.

Here, the initial component was animated and duplicated with an offset into a 6-component unit to create a simple, downward-flowing wave motion. The initial stages were created in Photoshop and animated with After Effects, following the initial mock-up visualization created in Photoshop. The fascination was the sense of potential- that every investment and variation would be multiplied and blended to create a vast, unforeseen, fluid structure and motion.
